Creative Overload with a Side of Geek
Say hello to Dr. Evil…and my slightly bemused son.
The last Sunday of July we had the privilege of participating in one of the largest geek, nerd, science fiction, super hero conventions in the world. San Diego Comic Con. Wow…what an enthusiastic crowd!
Of course there were super celebrities and super heroes but the unsung “hero” of this show are all the super, super talented artists through out the show floor. The drawings and paintings were extraordinary. Comic characters drawn right in front of our eyes…amazing! Caricatures, pencil drawings, sharpie marker sketches…it was all there.
Then there were the “you tubers” and my daughters latest obsession…Markiplier. She watches him all the time. These young guys are an entirely new form of “celebrity.”
Ben Affleck’s new Batman cowl debuted alongside these two artwork cowls. Handpainted and drawn…pretty amazing!
Fast Approaching…
We have one day left before school starts.. One! Not sure if I’m excited to take the kids back and establish a routine again or if I’d rather have another month or so off…? It’s a toss up.
My Favorite Show…(better late than never)
Bead Soup Hoppers…..you can find my bead soup here: https://www.susansartcircus.com/bead-soup-all-at-once/
Over Mother’s Day I had my booth full of things at the Bernardo Winery in San Diego, California. It was the 37th year that this show has been going on and about 10 years that I have participated.
The winery is a beautiful spot. Filled with antiques from the century they’ve been raising grapes on the property. Hundreds of olive trees line the walkways and buildings. Lush landscaping and flowers all around. Many small specialty shops and, of course, the wine tasting room plus they have a restaurant in the middle of everything! Needless to say it’s my favorite place and I get to be there (as long as Veronica juries me in) twice each year…Mother’s Day weekend and again the weekend a couple weeks before Halloween.
This time my whole family came on Mother’s Day. My son…
…he fell in love with my friend April’s Yorkie, Suzy. Isn’t she cute?
My daughter came all day to help out.
And my husband, well, let’s just say he found some new friends.
Whenever you get the chance go visit the Bernardo Winery…you won’t regret it!
Did you miss me??
What has everyone been up to? It’s only been a year since I was here last…ha! Where have I been? What have I been doing whilst my blog sits unattended? Well, a little it of this…and a bit of this…(very little)
and lived through this one turning 12….
and had this one following me around…
and this guy is also getting goofy (goofier?)
made a new book bag for her…
and drank alot of this…dark green swamp juice!
I’m still here! Oh, and I bought one of these. My collection is growing!
I promise to be back sooner than this last time…like maybe tomorrow with some surprises!
